SCIENCE DEMO ON ENERGY

After researching the definition of energy and its forms, Year 4 Students learned more about this by having a science demonstration. We went out of the class and set up tables for five different science demonstrations, including rising water (heat energy), rocket balloon (wind energy), roll-a-can (static electricity) and many more.

They independently did the demos by themselves, except for lighting the candle. With these do-it-yourself science demonstrations, the students were asked to write a science journal about it. They wrote a hypothesis first before they started. After they observed what really happened, they finally wrote the conclusions. To stimulate their curiosity, they were given a task to search on the internet to know more about the phenomenon or to make sure that their conclusions are correct.

The next day, students presented their conclusions to their friends. These science activities helped the students to get the idea that “energy is the ability to do work or to cause motion and change”. Obviously, it was also enjoyable.
