Earth Hour

Earth hour is a yearly event held worldwide every 27th March. It is an event in which we each have to turn off our lights for one hour from 8.30 to 9.30 pm. The purpose of such an event is to raise awareness to the global community and as a symbol to fight global warming. A group of year 11 DP students decided to form a committee to organize an event at school and outside school to commemorate and to participate in this global event.

Earth hour was celebrated in Sekolah Tunas Muda with a video competition with an aim to raise awareness about our earth’s current condition, possibly encompassing earth hour in the process. WWF came to explain the effects of global warming as well as the positive effects of earth hour.

As another celebratory event, Tunas Muda International School went across to SMP Kembangan and together we made ‘Cincau’ from the raw materials, the cincau plant. We also donated that plant to them.
As a closing to this event, we gathered at school for the actual earth hour, where we sang, played games and enjoyed this event of light in the midst of darkness. Through these events, we hope to bring to Tunas Muda International School an awareness regarding our world’s physical condition.
